Love Deeper, Serve Greater, Care More

About Us

"Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven."
Our mission is to lead people to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ who empowers them for spiritual growth.
"Retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus" 2 Timothy 1:13.
We have ten core values that guide us.  These values describe the culture that we seek to create at NBC.  We desire that they define and drive this ministry in the context of a warm and caring environment.
LORDSHIP OF CHRIST:  We ackowledge Christ as the head of the church and submit ourselves and all our activities to His will and good pleasure (Ephesians 1:22-23)
BIBLICAL TEACHING:  We strive to teach God's Word with integrity and authority so that seekers find Christ and believers mature in Him (2 Timothy 3:16).
PRAYER:  We rely on private and corporate prayer in the conception, planning, and execution of all the ministries and activities of this church (Matthew 7:7-11)
PRAISE AND WORSHIP:  We desire to acknowledge God's supreme value and worth in our personal lives in the corporate, traditional and contemporary worship of the church (Romans 12: 1-2).
GOD'S GRACE:  We encourage our people to serve Christ from hearts of love and gratitude rather than guilt and condemnation (Romans 6:14)..
GREAT COMMISION:  We value unchurched, lost people and will use every available Christ-honoring means to pursue, win, and disciple them (Luke 19:10).
EVANGELISM:  We believe that lost people matter to God, and therefore, ought to matter to the church.  This includes the concept of evangelish as a process (Luke 5:30-32, Matthew 18:14).
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION:  We believe that the Bible is God's inspired Word, the authoritative and trustworthy rule of faith and practive for Christians.  Therefore, we are committed to equipping Christians, through the preaching and teaching of God's Word, to follow Christ in every sphere of life.
GODLY LEADERSHIP:  We believe that the primary responsibility of the pastor and teachers is to "prepare people for the works of the service" (Ephesians 4:12).  Therefore, the ministry of NBC will be placed as much as possible in the hands of nonvocational workers.  This will be accomplished through training opportunities and through practices which encourage lay initiation, leadership, responsibility, and authority in the various ministries of the church.
CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP:  We value fellowship among our members and are committed to cultivating a Christ-like and loving atmosphere within the body (Acts 2:42).
We are a participating Southern Baptist Church and support missions through the Cooperative Program.  Our state affiliation is with the Louisiana Baptist Convention.  Our regional affiliation is with the North Shore Baptist Associations, a group of local associations of which our association, Chappapeela Association, is a member.
